Lidos are very much in the present actually: Hillingdon Council is very near now to re-opening the Uxbridge Lido and adjacent indoor 50 metre pool. (A residents only event will be held on February 22nd)

Hilsea Lido is now being run by a Trust: (HLPP) and Portishead Pool Trust members have just signed a 99 year lease with North Somerset Council.

Broomhill Pool has the potential to be run along similar lines to the Brockwell Park Lido in Herne Hill which is operated by Fusion. The changing rooms there have been converted into a spa/fitness suite/studio space etc so that activities can take place all the year round and subsidise the swimming where necessary.

London Fields Lido in Hackney is a heated 50 metre open-air pool and is open all the year round.

I know nothing about Broomhill. I always wonder why they can't get private interest in keeping the pool open, but I suspect there's a can of worms there.

People live in the past. They need to move on from Broomhill unless they all want to invest in the pool. Why have people elected persons in their ward who don't care about the pool?
