June 7th, 2010 — Crime
I was working from home today so I walked around Rectory Road, which is where I used to live. In my old house, and one of the neighbouring house there are three holes in the windows that look like they are bullet holes. They had been made on Saturday night.
I talked to people in both houses and they think that it is simple vandalism with an air gun, but this needs to be verified and whoever has done this does need to be tracked down.
There is a school of thought on crime prevention that is known as the “broken windows” theory. This is the belief that small crimes should not be overlooked as they lead to bigger crimes. This is a literal example of the broken window. It should not be seen as an act of simple vandalism, but a crime where a gun was aimed at an occupied house.
I will be keeping tabs on the police investigation.

The last 24 hours has been One of the busiest 24 hours so far. A combination of an increase in viewers in the last couple of weeks (probably a greater interest in the election) and a mass of searches for the Ipswich power cable thief.

Ipswich Spy emailed me to upbraid me for finding this funny, which I don’t aside from the natural selection angle. I’m not in favour of capital punishment for cable thieves even when I was caught on the train for two hours when they nicked £1,500 worth of signalling cable. It would have been far funnier if he had knocked himself out and got caught.

I only had dimmed power and my alarm clock which resets at every fluctuation in the atmosphere is still going on, but I’ve got a lot of searches about the power cut in Ipswich so I thought I’d point searcherrs in the right direction.
It seems like it was a burglar who was stealing copper wire from a power station and the power station did a Tony Martin and killed him.
July 29th, 2009 — Crime, Immigration, Stoke Street
You may remember the man getting arrested on Stoke Bridge, well there’s
a man getting arrested by armed police on Stoke Bridge. Well there’s more to this. The man, Mariusz Lipinski, is the primary suspect for the murder of his wife, Gosia Lipinska, who lived in Duke Street. All quite squalid and nasty so far.
However the Evening Star is reporting that he was bailed at the time of his arrest, had made threats to kill his wife and had been arrested for carrying a knife while on bail. It’s odd how Chris Mole had made an entirely fatuous call for an automatic sentence for those who carried a knife, while still supporting a government that seems to find £400 a day for a “national lead peer for Labour at the Improvement and Development Agency” while not being able to fund enough places so that knife carrying wife threatening bail violators are off our streets.
