Income was certainly the reason they gave out at the time. However Alan Pillbeam was saying to us that the Wherstead Road leg of the route was also killing their punctuality - and made it clear that this was the issue that most exercised him. This may be hindsight, as First is currently getting crucified in this area.

According to Tory County Council Transport Portfolio holder who was quwestioned by Scrutiny tonight (also open to the public- well sort of but as the Tory Borough have now shut the building at 6 you would find it hard to get in) the route was stopped due to lack of revenue, this came about when Cllr Rudkin questioned the Portfolio holder on the loss of the route to Wherstead Rd

Comrade Ross: If Labour had one councillor in Bridge you'd have a point. But you have three. What's more important, representing the people of Bridge or choreographing opposition points?

You get all these signatures to stop the partnership of Ipswich Buses and Go Ahead group but when the biggest current issue with buses in the ward can be addressed there's no one to be seen! Instead we have unfounded rumours about losing over sixty passes (in John Cook's twitter feed) and losing estate services.

I've been banging my head against a wall trying to talk to First, and I assumed that Labour councillors were as well from the leaflet that you put out on Wherstead Road. Here was their chance, and no one took it.

Ipswich Spy: I don't believe in censorship, but nothing should ever be said in this blog against Dame Bryony Rudkin as we in Bridge Ward are blessed with her presence (or otherwise). How could she be anything but indispensible to Bridge? Who else can represent our interests to the South African government? Please can we ensure that we're clear on this.

Sorry, being thick, just remembered she is a borough member as well. THe point still stands though, surely she isn't that vital to the group that it can't function without her?

That's a good point, but when I went to that meeting at just before 8pm I was walking down the road with Jim Powell. We even waved to each other as I was going in to Bridge Ward club and he was going to Vernon Street. I'm not trying to get Jim Powell in trouble here, I just think that if he wasn't at the group meeting then he should have been at the meeting about First and if he was at the group meeting then it had obviously finished and at least one of the Bridge ward councillors should have been at the meeting with the MD of First - even if the Bridge Ward club is quite a way from where they live.
